From design consultation through installation, we ensure your custom mantel perfectly complements your fireplace and home.
Style Consultation
Discuss your design preferences, measure fireplace opening dimensions, evaluate hearth depth and chimney breast width, assess existing surround materials (brick, stone, tile), and determine corbel bracket placement, frieze board requirements, and proper fire code clearances for your functional requirements.
Measurement & Design
Precise measurements of mantel shelf proportions, plan crown molding profiles, design corbel brackets and frieze boards with dentil molding or rosette accents, and create custom designs with proper hearth clearances to complement your fireplace and room.
Material Selection
Pick your wood species, stain color, and decorative details. Oak and maple are popular for traditional homes, walnut and cherry for more formal spaces. We'll show you samples so you can see the grain and color against your existing surround before we start building.
Custom Crafting
We build your mantel in our shop using mortise and tenon joinery, hand-routed profiles, and carefully selected boards matched for grain consistency. Corbels, frieze boards, and crown details are all built as one integrated piece so everything lines up perfectly.
Professional Installation
We mount the mantel with heavy-duty fasteners into wall studs or a structural ledger board, keeping all fire code clearances. The surround gets scribed to the wall for a tight fit, and any caulk or filler work is done on-site so the finished product looks like it grew out of the wall.
